CANINE OLYMPICS

The ultimate "try it with your dog" event is sponsored each fall by the Spirit
of St. Louis Samoyed Club. The event is hosted by Purina Farms in Gray
Summit, MO.

Local clubs demonstrate/teach their "specialty" - allowing dog owners to try
new activities with their canine companions.

In 2003 the "Olympic" events included:
  • Agility
  • Costume Contest
  • Fido's Tricks and Manners
  • Flyball
  • Frisbee
  • Hiking/Backpacking
  • Lure Coursing
  • Search and Rescue
  • Show Ring Conformation
  • Sledding and Carting
  • Weight Pulling
  • Canine Good Citizen Test
  • Novice Obedience Show and Go
  • Rally Obedience

There is a nominal fee per olympic event.

Participation in at least four Olympic events earns your dog an Olympic
Award. Vendors are available and a raffle is usually held.

Wysiwyg Welsh terriers have enjoyed the opportunity to try new events over
the years. As members of Greater St. Louis Training Club, Lucy and Linda
helped with the Canine Good Citizen test in 2001 and Rally Obedience in
2003.
Gwin, Taly and Moose attended the June 1997 Picnic - they are on lower right.
GSLTC PICNIC

For several summers, the Greater St. Louis Training Club has
sponsored picnics for members and their dogs. The picnic has
been hosted by different members at their home. It usually
includes food and fun for people and canines.
